The Chesham Society is the local amenity Society for
Chesham town and the surrounding parishes of Chartridge, Cholesbury-cum-St
Leonards, Ashley Green, Latimer and Chesham Bois. We are a voluntary group of
people who care for the Chesham area.
Formed in 1957, we are a registered charity, a member of Civic Voice and a
founder member of the Association of North Thames Amenity Societies and the Town
Council Environmental Group. We are not political and cooperate with other
groups working for the good of the town and act as a forum for debate. The
Chesham Society monitors local planning schemes and applications, and encourages
debate to ensure that the interests of local people are properly heard.
We welcome as members all local residents, with or without professional skills,
who would like to learn about, discuss, or help to develop, ideas and schemes to
protect and improve whatever is best in Chesham. We have no political bias. The
Chesham Society's aim is to promote the highest standards in planning, design,
building and restoration, use of materials and other matters, appropriate to the
Town and its people.
